Roman Blinds Dubai-Fabric Choice

Choosing the right fabric for your Roman Dubai blinds can be tricky. There are unlimited choices of materials, colours, and patterns. This can be overwhelming for a first-time buyer, especially if you want to preserve the longevity of your blinds.

Roman blinds are accommodating when it comes to different thicknesses and weights of fabric. However, here are some of the materials you should avoid at all costs.

Pure Silk

Even though Roman blinds can be made in pure silk, this is not the best option because the material is adversely affected by exposure to moisture and intense sunlight.

If you live in the sunniest areas of Dubai, such as Palm Jumeirah or Arabian Ranches, your silk blinds could rapidly deteriorate due to excess sunlight. The silk will fade and quickly rot because it is not the most durable and resilient fabric for Roman shades.

Faux Leather

Faux leather or leatherette is also not ideal for Roman blinds. This material is too thick and bulky, which makes it challenging to stitch and fold properly.

They could also rip and tear at any of the stitching points. For a better alternative, choose faux suede because it is a much more accommodating and softer material.

Oil Cloths and Vinyl

These fabrics or thick waterproof PVC’s with gloss coating is not recommended for Roman blinds. The oil-based coating makes the structure very dense and troublesome to fold.

It also creates a lot of friction. This makes the material very sticky, which could stop your Dubai blinds from working correctly by putting too much stress on the track or automated system.

Upholstery

Upholstery fabrics are weighty and should not be used for Roman Dubai blinds. Even though the thick material is durable and resistant to wear and tear, it is treated with a fire-retardant chemical by black-coating or dipping the fabric.

This causes the material to become extremely stiff and painful to fold softly. Avoid upholstery fabrics because they are too rigid to use for either blinds or curtains Dubai .

Stretch Knit

Any stretched or knitted fabrics are bad for Roman blinds. They cannot be cut and measured accurately enough and can go out of shape quickly. This will make your blinds look very unattractive, and they become challenging to operate.

Sheers

Transparent fabrics are not ideal for Roman blinds, even though they are lightweight and can be folded and draped well. Roman blinds must be lined, and putting an opaque fabric lining behind the transparent one defeats the purpose of using sheers.

If the screens were made unlined, the dowels, cords, and channels would all be visible through the sheers while lowering the blinds. This does not look visually appealing and could ruin your interior design.
